Ethan Hawke Fights Crime Through Time in Australian Sci-Fi-Thriller ‘Predestination’

Predestination(PCM) Ethan Hawke, fresh off the high critical praises for his performance in Richard Linklater’s innovative Boyhood, is starring in a completely different kind of movie this January; The Spierig Brothers’ sci-fi action-thriller Predestination.

Opening in select theaters on a limited run starting January 9, 2015, Predestination is written and directed by twin brothers Michael and Peter Spierig from the story All You Zombies by Robert A. Heinlein. The Spierig Brothers previously directed Ethan Hawke in 2009’s futuristic vampire-horror, Daybreakers.

Premiering at the South by Southwest Film Festival back in March, Predestination currently has a fresh rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have been giving particular praise to Hawke’s co-star, Sarah Snook.

Justin Chang wrote in his review of Predestination for Variety, “A breakout performance by Sarah Snook distinguishes this entrancingly strange science-fiction drama” and Craig Mathieson writing for Australia’s The Sydney Morning Herald writes, “Hawke and Snook anchor the knotty storyline and you eventually realise key lines have a double meaning, and that every occurrence fastidiously ties together.”
