Warner Brothers has revealed the first clip from ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters‘, which features Millie Bobby Brown trying to contact Monarch. Although we’ll probably get our first proper look at the sequel at this Saturday’s Warner Brothers panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2018, this clip gives our first good bit of footage from Michael Dougherty‘s film.
Jumping forward 5 years after the events of Gareth Edwards’ 2014 film, ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters‘ follows a new set of characters as they face off against a battery of god-sized monsters. We saw the first images a few days ago that featured Brown’s character, but this clip actually raises a lot of mysteries about her and why she’s trying to contact monarch in the first place. Here’s the clip, which came via the film’s twitter:

Indeed, it seems that Brown’s character is attempting to contact the same organization in Monarch–a monster hunting organization that was set up in both ‘Godzilla‘ and ‘Kong: Skull Island‘. While we don’t yet know why her character is trying to contact monarch, the true mystery of this clip is why the bandages around her hands suddenly go missing towards the end. It certainly might prove to be a massive continuity error–as the film is currently still being edited–but maybe there’s something more to this? Either way you slice it, this clip looks promising and I can’t wait to see more from the film in the coming days.
In addition to Brown, ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters‘ also stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, and Zhang Ziyi. The film opens May 31, 2019, but in the meantime, official synopsis and a cool new banner for ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ below:
The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
