Twisted Metal Is Driving Full Speed To Peacock This July

TWISTED METAL, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith, about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.

Peacock has released the first official trailer for Twisted Metal. The show will premiere on Peacock on July 27th. Anthony Mackie will lead an all-star cast including Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, with Will Arnett and Joe Seanoa (wrestler Samoa Joe will be the voice of Sweet Tooth). Special guest stars include Neve Campbell, Richard Cabral, Mike Mitchell, Tahj Vaughans, Lou Beatty Jr.

The show will have ten episodes with a run time of thirty minutes. For those wondering what Twisted Metal is it premiered was a car combat series that first started on the PlayStation 1 in 1995 from developer SingleTrac. The general premise across all the games is that contestants blow each other up to amuse a reality-warping man (demigod?) named Calypso, and whoever’s left standing is granted a single wish, but with some dark twist attached.
