That Time Stephen King And Vince McMahon Were In The Same Movie Together, Well Kind Of

CreepshowHalloween is right around the corner, which is a treat for horror fans.  With Halloween comes lots and lots of scary movies. One of my favorite horror movies from the 80s regularly plays around this time of year is the movie Creepshow. The film was directed by George A. Romero, the legendary director who brought zombies to the mainstream with Night of the Living Dead’s release. Creepshow came out in 1982 and has since become a cult classic. Stephen King wrote the film and also starred in one of the five stories featured in the movie. King overacts in the segment and steals the show ” The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill.” The story follows a not so smart man named Jody Verrill, who watches a meteorite crash land on his farm. Jody touches the fallen meteorite to bring it to the local university to get some money to pay off his bank loan. After touching the meteorite, Jody slowly turns into a giant weed. Before fully turning into a weed, Jody sits down and watches a wrestling match on …

Nike Is Set To Release Freddy Krueger Inspired Air Max’s For The Halloween Season

Just in time for the Halloween season, Nike has revealed that they will be releasing a special edition of the Air Max 95. The sneakers ultra spooky design will be inspired by the “Nightmare On Elm Street” film franchise and its’ lead character Freddy Krueger. The sneaker is directly inspired by the famous brown striped sweater “Velvet Brown” and burgundy  “University Red” worn by the character. Gray is inspired by Freddy’s infamous clawed glove. The mixture of materials, colors, and style is a fantastic tribute to the maniacal, yet mythical killer. Certain details, like the drops of blood on the back of the shoe, complete the style and the reference. The sneaker is described by saying,  “The upper of the shoe is made of mesh and canvas to replicate Krueger’s sweater. The accents on the base of the shoe include gray suede tips, a plaid tongue, and metallic silver inserts speckled with red in reference to Freddy’s favorite razor glove. ” This will be the perfect addition to any sneakerheads collection and perfect for the Halloween season (or anytime for …

Take A Journey Through Magical Mystery Doors – A Virtual Tour Of Real Life Film And TV Locations

If there’s one thing that we’ve definitely learned the value of since lockdown, it’s travel. The ability to visit far off lands and discover the hidden gems they offer has never seemed so sweet. But while we might not be able to take a trip right now, the power of technology does mean that we can still immerse ourselves in the wonders of the world from the comfort of our sofa. Nevermore are we finding ourselves immersed in TV and movies; the escapism, the fantasy, the discovery of new places that entice us to keep watching, there’s something to keep us hooked. If like us you’re a curious bunch, you’ve probably watched a film or two and decided to do a bit of Googling, trying to find out whether the marvelous scenery you see before you is real – Where is that? Does it really exist? Most of us would put many of the film sets we see down to clever editing techniques, granted some of them are purely CGI but this world is a beautiful and diverse place – …

WonderCon 2020 Postponed Due To Coronavirus Concern; No Update On San Diego Comic-Con

Those planning to venture out to sunny California for the upcoming WonderCon 2020 convention will be deeply saddened to learn that this year’s convention has been postponed indefinitely due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 aka the Coronavirus. The announcement of WonderCon 2020s’ cancellation is just one more large scale pop culture event to be added to the ever-growing list of convention and concert cancellations due to COVID-19. Other events announcing postponement and cancellations include SXSW, the Coachella Music Festival, Download Music Festival, Emerald City Comic Con,  the SIFF Film Festival, CinemaCon and many, many more. However, don’t pack up your cosplay and sunglasses just yet, as we have yet to hear any news about San Diego Comic-Con being postponed. In a statement, WonderCon organizers said: To protect public health and slow the rate of transmission of COVID-19, the California Department of Public Health announced a recommendation that gatherings and events of more than 250 people should either be postponed or cancelled. Comic-Con (organizer of WonderCon) will abide by this recommendation. Therefore WonderCon Anaheim, scheduled for April 10-12, 2020 in …

Mark Hamill Might Be Known As A Jedi But His Voice Will Live In Villainy Infamy

Pop Culture QuestFor forty-plus years now Mark Hamill has been a household name. Hamill’s work in Star Wars as Luke Skywalker the apprentice turned Jedi master was box office gold and inspired a generation of future storytellers including Kevin Smith, but more on that later. Mark Hamill might be known as a Jedi, but his voice has found the Darkside, and he has been making quite the impact as a voice actor. Hamill started voicing Joker all the way back in the early ’90s. The Joker is quite possibly Batman’s greatest enemy.  And fans seemed to be overjoyed to have Hamill take the voice and give it’s his take. Then in 2019 horror fans and the world alike were shocked to hear that Hamill would be the voice of Chucky. Yes, everyone’s favorite knee-high serial killer from the 80’s that scared me, and little kids everywhere. This knew Chucky was not in the same realm of the Don Mancini creation, but an entire new adaption. Fans were mixed about the new adaption but were happy to see Hamill’s name attached. Now let’s …

Dear David S. Goyer Where Is The Hellraiser Script ?

Storytelling is a very compelling art form. The way a story is told on screen is called a screenplay, and one man has had much success with his screenplay’s. David S. Goyer has had much success in Hollywood and is a go too for a blockbuster. Goyer had much success with the Dark Knight films alongside Christopher Nolan. His latest film to hit theaters was Terminator: Dark Fate which was released last year to mixed reviews. Goyer has become Hollywood’s golden boy With the downfall of Miramax, a lot of movie properties were up for sale. The Hellraiser franchise was one of these properties. Hellraiser was first released in 1987 and was penned and directed by legendary storyteller Clive Barker. The Hellraiser franchise has seen its share of ups, but mostly downs. The last film in the franchise and under the banner of Dimension films (Miramax)  was Hellraiser Judgement released in 2018. In May of last year, SpyGlass Media Group announced that a new Hellraiser film was in the works.  Not a reboot, but a remake and the man to …

Nightmare Cinema Delivers The Horror Fan’s Deserve To See

This past Christmas I treated myself and got a subscription to Shudder the thriller and horror streaming service. Shudder has a lot of treats to offer horror fans including the hit series Creepshow and Joe Bob Briggs Last Drive-In just to name a few. The movies Shudder has to offer range from the supernatural to the slashers. One of the selling points in getting Shudder was the movie that I’m about to review called Nightmare Cinema. I’m a huge Mick Garris fan, and when I  heard about this film while listening to his podcast Post Mortem, I couldn’t wait to check it out. Nightmare Cinema was the first film I watched on Shudder. The film is an anthology series that follows five strangers into an abandoned theater where they watch their deepest fears playout on the big screen. It was a treat to see Mickey Rourke playing the Projectionist who owns the twilight zone like theater and his different conversations with his victims Each story in the movie is directed by a well-known director in the realm of horror. These …

One Of The Worst Hollywood Ideas Of The Year. Pitting Cats Against Star Wars

It takes a team of dedicated people to make a feature film. If you don’t believe me just watch the ending credits of any film that has come out in the last sixty to seventy years. It takes a lot of hard work and time to tell a tale in ninety minutes, and it can take one or two executives to turn it into a flop. A case in point is the decision to open Cats around the same time as Star Wars. In fact, on further investigation according to IMDB, both films were released on the same day. It is a crazy idea to release a film like Cats against Star Wars which has a built-in fan base of forty plus years. The idea of the fandom and the fan’s thirst for this film should have been enough warning to the producers of Cats and the studio to move the release date. That means somewhere out there someone who gets paid lots and lots of money sat in a board room and the idea of a Cats and Star …

Review: ‘Jagged Little Pill’ Opens On Broadway And Breathes Fresh Life Into Alanis Morrissette’s Already Iconic Album

It is almost difficult to put into words just how impressive “Jagged Little Pill” is on the stage, as the show has just recently made it’s Broadway debut. This is no doubt thanks to the incredibly creative team behind the production with director Diane Paulus, scriptwriter Diablo Cody and the artist behind the amazing soundtrack that makes up this show, Alanis Morrissette. “Jagged Little Pill” is loosely based upon the songs that made up Morrisette’s iconic 1995 album release by the same name and taking this music to Broadway has created a breath of fresh life for these songs that were a big part of our angsty teenage youth. After seeing “Jagged Little Pill”, we now have a completely new and different view and understanding of many stand-out tracks featured on both the album and the show including, “You Learn”, “Ironic” and the always anthemic “You Oughta Know” and from now on will definitely be listening to them in an entirely new way. Writer Diablo Cody found a way to take these songs that spoke so much to us back …
