(PCM) Fans were overjoyed back in May when actress/writer Nia Vardalos confirmed that she had been working on a script for a sequel to the hit film “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. It is now official, as it has been revealed that Universal Pictures has confirmed that they will distribute the upcoming film.
Of course, Vardalos will be returning as the lovable Toula and “Waking Ned Devine” director Kirk Jones has signed on to direct. Actor John Corbett has also confirmed his participation in the sequel reprising his role as Toula’s husband, Ian.
Very few details about the plot have been revealed, however we do know that it will follow Toula’s revelation of a family secret and of course center around a “bigger and fatter” Portokalos family wedding.
The upcoming sequel is being produced by Golden Circle Films, HBO, and Playtone, along with Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks. Vardalos is listed as an executive producer for the project.
Thus far there has been no information about a release date.
