Today we’re taking a look at the previous three episodes of … What If? before we get into the final two episodes to come! But before that, we break down yet another Marvel/Disney lawsuit that could strip away their rights to our most beloved characters! We also take a quick chance to poke fun at the casting choices for Nintendo’s recently announced Super Mario Bros movie and go over what we’ve been watching in September!
Wandavision finished TWO whole weeks ago and we’ve been famished ever since… but alas, Falcon & the Winter Soldier is here to save the day. The next installment of the MCU Phase 4 is here and we break it down. BUT! Not before we talk about the new Suicide Squad trailer AND about how Joel actually watched… THE SNYDER CUT! DUN DUN DUN!
Just a couple of news bits before we revisit Westview and see what Wanda & Vision are up to! Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey have been cast in HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us as Joel & Ellie respectively; Gina Carano has been officially fired from the Mandalorian while Joss Whedon’s past behavior on set has finally caught up with him. Back in the MCU we find Wanda and Vision at odds over what’s happening in Westview while Evan Peters has shown up as Wanda’s dead brother Pietro… Just when we thought shit couldn’t get ANY crazier…
Spider-Man: Homesick!? BUT WHERE’S HE GOING!? We’ll get there, but first, it’s a HUGE news week so let’s just dive right in! Lauren has finally caught up on The Boys but she’s not too sure how to feel about it! James Bond 25 has a title and boy oh boy is it very Bond-y. The Keanu-ssance has finally peaked with the massive announcement of The Matrix 4! Disney’s version of Comic-Con: D23 is this weekend where our very own Taylor Salan will be reporting LIVE from the field! Long time wrestling-hater, Joel, is geeking out hard on Collider’s Movie Trivia Schmoedown and he’s very passionate about it! The juiciest news to be squeezed this week is that Sony and Disney are in a custody battle over Spider-Man. The monumental deal struck over Spider-Man being used in the MCU has fallen apart when Disney asked for a 50/50 co-financing deal and Sony declined. Later reports claim that a rebuttal from Sony was delivered and Disney wasn’t impressed either. So, without Spider-Man, the MCU is in a storytelling pickle but we definitely …
First and foremost, before we talk about anything else related to this episode, we need to hammer home one thing: Avengers Endgame is out on DVD & Blu-Ray and our VERY OWN Taylor Salan has a pull quote on the FREAKING BOX! So go out and buy it, please! And then for fun send us selfies with your copy! It would be dope to see the interaction! Now, before we talk about Which Fox films are Disney scrapping… we have: Okay, ahem, now for this week’s episode. Taylor’s been doing some awesome Blu-Ray reviews, and we cover them briefly here. Joel is finally back on the Marvel Comics train after half a decade and he’s raving about Jonathan Hickman’s House of X & Powers of X. If Joel can get back on board with mainstream cape books, so can you! Next up, Nerd News! Gemma Chan is in The Eternals… But wait, wasn’t she in Captain Marvel!? Yes, yes she was. So what does this mean? Your guess is as good as ours! But we DO make some guesses. Andy Serkis is officially directing Venom …
Welcome back, nerds, to another episode of Pop! Pop! the Pop Culture Podcast! We know this posting consistency must be weird for you guys, but it’s okay, we’re going to get through this together. And remember, if we just suddenly stop posting for a year, it’s not your fault and we still love each and every one of you. But for now let’s focus on the good and talk about this week’s episode! As we always do, we talk about what media our eyeballs have been soaking up recently and both Taylor and Joel have some new shows they’ve been binging. Amazon’s The Boys had a presence at Comic-Con and Taylor watched almost the entire season in one day! Meanwhile, over in self-therapy-land, Joel caught up with all six episodes of Euphoria in one day… Jeez guys, get a life. Taika Watiti got a little break after Thor: Ragnarok to make his passion project, Jo Jo Rabbit, and the trailer is pleasantly odd. Taylor likens it to a New Zealand Wes Anderson film and Joel loves this idea. Then, the movie everyone asked for, …

The Marvel Cinematic Universe started 11 years ago with a little film called Iron Man. A risky play for Marvel, who’d previously sold the rights to their characters to other, much larger, studios. Factor in Robert Downey Jr, who hadn’t had the best track record as of late, and no one knew what was going to more »
